(Seriously how can you not love this guy?)

Q. Battlestar Galactica's Blonde Tomboy Space Girl (AKA Starbuck) is so clearly Wheadonian with her hot, hot fighting abilities and messianic visions... The BSG writers love you. When are you doing a cameo?

A. When Ron Moore stops admiring his shiny mane long enough to realize Starbuck could never love Lee as she would love pasty me.

Well it's confirmed...BSG 4.5 wrapped last night at 5:30AM on set...they are done shooting principal.

Sigh.

.

Thank goodness there is so much other stuff to latch onto in fandom now, and coming in the 08-09 season.  This is hitting me much harder than the end of even SEX AND THE CITY or DEADWOOD.  Probably cuz I'm all blogger now and such.  Probably cuz I have interacted so much with you guys here, and with creatives on this show.  A first for me.

You're a terrific fandom and I hope we can all keep it together moving forward to CAPRICA...VIRTUALITY...BSG 4.5 (in like almost A YEAR FROM NOW, SHOOT)...at least one BSG telefilm...and beyond.

I just updated my comments about BATTLESTAR GALACTICA's "Revelations" with some more coherent thoughts, and would love to hear what you guys have to say, if you feel like jumping back a few posts to re-read. There's also a cool frame grab...

Gods that was great TV. For various reasons, it makes we want to post these two quotes:

“I want the audience to work. I ask them to see the film from the beginning and devote their full attention to it, treating it with the same respect they would give a painting, a symphony or any other work of art.
I treat them with the same respect by inviting them to search for their own meanings instead of insulting their intelligence with obvious explanations.”

to be let loose in the world."

So my friend has this hobby site AdamaForPresident and makes these adorkable tee shirts in the Obama campaign fonts.

Since recent events involving Leeland Adama have transpired, and Obama has locked the nom, we decided it was time to try to get some of these babies to the BSG set in Vancouver.  We succeeded this week.

Today my pal who makes the shirts got a message on his Facebook:

XXXXXX sent you a message.

Subject: Adama '08 shirt

"I just thought you'd like to know that I work on Battlestar and this morning at breakfast Jamie Bamber was wearing the Adama '08 shirt.  So I guess your care package is being enjoyed!"

I just watched the 4.0 BSG finale before running to the office. Ha.

Updated now with a few more coherent ramblings... )

Some friends of mine who followed the spoilers are now saying they wish they hadn't...

I was spirginal and proud and LOVED THE EP.

proggrrl: (fandom is like this *sweet*)
It is way too early in the am for this but...
IGN: I know you're a big Battlestar fan. Was it great for you to get to work with Tahmoh Penikett?

Joss Whedon: I'm gonna go out on a limb here and tell the truth – I've had a man-crush on Tahmoh since the first episode of Battlestar.

IGN: From the moment he stayed behind on Caprica?

Whedon: I had a feeling about him. I just had a feeling about him. I know, he gave up his seat to Baltar! Not bright, but cute! But no, he just has a presence. Tim Minear watched the dailies and he said, "I can't believe you found this guy. This guy is so hard to find. A leading man that has a real soulfulness and a real unique quality" and I just felt that from Battlestar, and he brought it completely [to Dollhouse]. When I spoke to him, he was the first person to mention Never Let Me Go, the novel, just from hearing the premise of Dollhouse. The beautiful sadness of that novel so suffuses what we're trying to do, and it was so beautiful when he brought it up that I just knew this guy [was right]. And it follows my rule with Nathan [Fillion]. Hire a Canadian! They're gentlemen and they're very tall.

I just posted this at my Battlestar Galactica blog, but since I'm also a Mad Men & Breaking Bad fan, let me share here:

According to this post over at The Envelope, the L.A. Times has organized a public Q&A screening series with the cast and crew of Emmy-contender shows such as MAD MEN, DAMAGES, BREAKING BAD, BIG LOVE, HOUSE and BATTLESTAR GALACTICA. All events are at the Arclight Cinemas in Hollywood.

Go here for schedule and RSVP info.

Argh, I am so jealous right now!

I'm a tad behind on the movies in theaters front...but IRON MAN was really fun.

Did anyone see SPEED RACER?  It's on my list.

Meanwhile, from the small(er) screen...I'm actually sorry I missed LaBuff on SNL, he was funny!  I want an animated GIF icon of him as Doug Henning saying "Magic!" and flinging his hand like that.  Hilarious.

Lots of GeekTV news coming in the next wave of TV upfront buzz this weekend and today, that JJ Abrams new show FRINGE has been picked up and will most likely run this fall.  Whedon's DOLLHOUSE is a go for midseason.  Apparently SARAH CONNOR's season 2 will run with FRINGE this fall?  And Peter (FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS) Berg is going to direct Ron Moore/Michael Taylor's pilot for VIRTUALITY? W00t.

I am looking forward to this VHI series SEX: THE REVOLUTION.  Per PopCandy, looks like Sundance Channel will show the uncensored versions next week.

Whoa.  How bout this week's LOST & BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, eh?  My head is spinning.

I have some basic thoughts - and a bunch of questions -  on BSG posted in the comments section over here if you're interested.  I have only watched it once and plan to rewatch, read everyone else's thoughts, and then maybe have a bit more to say.  But...wow.

Meanwhile, can I get a HUZZAH for the first HEROES season 3 promo spot?  Three friggin' hours?! W00t.

Also forgot to mention earlier in the week, that I watched the PBS movie CRANFORD last Sunday night based on Mo Ryan's review.  And for any of you Jane Austen/Brit period piece drama fans out there -- see it!  Excellent, witty, and surprisingly matriarchal.  Great acting...and a welcome respite from the intensely romantic nature of many of those BBC films.  This has all the usual romantic entanglements and all that -- but also much more of THE REST OF LIFE.  You can still catch part 1 (of 3) on PBS's site, and part 2 is coming tomorrow.

Wow.

Watched the new BATTLESTAR GALACTICA and LOST eps last night, after a late night at the office.

*stunned*

Holy crap that's good TV.

Just.  Maaaaan!!

Also, on a sidenote: all of us who have adored Robert Downey Jr. since the frakkin' 1980s? We have some bigass smiles on our faces right now.  Heh heh.

TV FTW

proggrrl: (WTF????)
TV was pwning this past week...the AMADEUS-inspired ep of 30 ROCK had me ROFLMAO.  Again.  Welcome back GREY'S ANATOMY with a bang.  I still love you -- even though you are dating someone else!  UGLY BETTY continues to make me giggle nonstop.  Many of you have probably read how I feel about BATTLESTAR.  I miss JOHN ADAMS and its grandeur (not to mention that gorgeous score cue that I am STILL HUMMING TO MYSELF WTF).  Sigh.

And THE TUDORS? Well I am quite glad I stuck with it thus far, because this Sunday's ep was absolutely the best one yet.  In the entire series.  Great stuff, with the entire cast bringing their A Game for serious.  So it's good news that it's getting a third season in my book.  Jeremy Northram is a huge loss, but the show is cruising along at a high, high level.  How amazing is Peter O'Toole as the pope?  They certainly give him some terrific lines.  As fun as all the palace intrigue on this show can be, my favorite element here involves religion - bringing all this history to life in such an engaging way.  You see precedents being laid here that draw a clear path towards the founding of our own American society.  I've never been much of a history nerd, so much of this perspective is new for me.

*gestures towards my icon*

As for...THAT SHOW...it just about blew my mind last Thursday night (actually Saturday afternoon when I got around to watching it, heh).  Seriously I don't even know what to say about it.  Other than how amazing Benjamin Linus is.  He's right up there with DEADWOOD's Swearengen and BATTLESTAR's Baltar as a great character whose every move, every word, every scheme, is a joy to watch and fully realized by the writers and actors involved.

Meanwhile: time for MAD MED S1 DVD pre orders people!  *\o/*

FYI, for those of us now keeping tabs on all these upcoming Fox network sci-fi shows, I found this amazingly primitive, but informative blog on Fox's official site.

Looks like they'll be aggregating materials about the new shows by Joss Whedon, J.J. Abrams, Ron Moore, etc, as well as S2 of SARAH CONNOR.

Kewl.  Blogroll could use some work.  But still kewl.

For my own sanity I decided to make a list of what I'd like to try to see this weekend at NYCC and...gulp...
