TV was pwning this past week...the AMADEUS-inspired ep of 30 ROCK had me ROFLMAO.  Again.  Welcome back GREY'S ANATOMY with a bang.  I still love you -- even though you are dating someone else!  UGLY BETTY continues to make me giggle nonstop.  Many of you have probably read how I feel about BATTLESTAR.  I miss JOHN ADAMS and its grandeur (not to mention that gorgeous score cue that I am STILL HUMMING TO MYSELF WTF).  Sigh.

And THE TUDORS? Well I am quite glad I stuck with it thus far, because this Sunday's ep was absolutely the best one yet.  In the entire series.  Great stuff, with the entire cast bringing their A Game for serious.  So it's good news that it's getting a third season in my book.  Jeremy Northram is a huge loss, but the show is cruising along at a high, high level.  How amazing is Peter O'Toole as the pope?  They certainly give him some terrific lines.  As fun as all the palace intrigue on this show can be, my favorite element here involves religion - bringing all this history to life in such an engaging way.  You see precedents being laid here that draw a clear path towards the founding of our own American society.  I've never been much of a history nerd, so much of this perspective is new for me.

*gestures towards my icon*

As for...THAT SHOW...it just about blew my mind last Thursday night (actually Saturday afternoon when I got around to watching it, heh).  Seriously I don't even know what to say about it.  Other than how amazing Benjamin Linus is.  He's right up there with DEADWOOD's Swearengen and BATTLESTAR's Baltar as a great character whose every move, every word, every scheme, is a joy to watch and fully realized by the writers and actors involved.

Meanwhile: time for MAD MED S1 DVD pre orders people!  *\o/*

Agreed in full.

Ben rocks. (AICN recently posted a cool interview with Michael Emerson, btw.)

I pre-ordered Mad Men. Can't wait to open the Zippo inspired box. I have a Amazon dashboard widget that tells me it will ship in 72 days. :)

lol I love that you got a widget for it...that's too darned long for me to track. ;) I had been taping all the eps during the reb'cast this spring but decided to empty my DVR yesterday and pre-order. There's too much else I need to watch now!

I don't watch Grey's Anatomy, but every other show that you mentioned -- COMPLETELY AGREE! TV has just been really good lately and I'm also surprised at how much I've been enjoying The Tudors. More beheadings, I say!

YAY

Yeah I just added a bit more to my Tudors comments above. I am also just LOVING the Pope/O'Toole - they give him such juicy dialogue and I love how they portray the Vatican of that period - you really see why such a thing came about in the first place. It was an important cross-balance for monarchies of that age.

haha your icon!!!

We watch and love the same shows. (except Ugly Betty. Never got around to watching it).
The Tudors episode from last week kicked my ass. It was so amazing.

I miss John Adams too. Especially the score. I wanted to see the making of special but it's not available as a torrent. :(

Ben Linus is definitely the Swearengen of the island.
Couldn't agree more with you. He's part creepy part genius.

Why hello there. We should be friends then, yes?

BTW just curious...how did you find me? I'm always interested in how folks not already on my flist get over here. I love expanding the flist. *g*
