Well, no one has responded to my Show Me Your Desk (and Pet) meme.  *SAD*  But [profile] spinkitty got me in on her Questions To Flist meme and I’m going for it!  Thanks spin.

Here are the rules friends – c’mon and play with me.

1. Leave me a comment saying anything random, like the music your listening to right now, something great you did or saw this week, a line from your fave song or poem or novel.  Or your favorite kind of sandwich or slogan or innocent yet suggestive quotes. Something random. Whatever you like but preferably amusing because I like to be amused.
2. I respond by asking you five personal questions so I can get to know you better.
3. You will update your LJ with the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and offer to ask someone else in the post.
5. When others comment asking to be asked, you will ask them five questions.

1) name 5 things you miss about the 80's (or wish were still around)
Well many of my favorite things seem to be enjoying an incredible renaissance at the moment… *glee*  But, hmm, let’s see:
- Mixed cassette tapes from boys who had crushes.  I guess now, if someone was crushing, they make you a CD?  An iMix?
- The first wave of cyberpunk, PRE-internet.  William Gibson, David Cronenberg, Ridley Scott, ROBOCOP, etc – those were the days!
- The band X on tour.  I remember my first time seeing them in NYC – I made a sign to hold up that said “MOVE TO NYC, WE LOVE YOU!” and the lead singer Exene took it to keep it! *80s squee*
- The early 80s cast of Saturday Night Live.  Especially Eddie Murphy.
- The pre-internet, pre-cell phone, even pre-ANSWERING MACHINE era.  Back in the day if you wanted to talk to somebody you had to go find them, grab them, and physically get in their face.  I miss that quite a bit.  Also I miss the art of penpal via snail mail.  My friends and I used to create all this really artsy-fartsy crazy stuff to mail each other, collages, photos, hand-drawn stuff.

2) what would you do if you were Samuel T Anders for 33 hours?
LOL!  Well he’s not my favorite character but I could live with that.  I’d make moves on as many nuggets as possible.  Hug Lee.  Do loops in a viper.  Then I’d probably be in the brig for the rest of my hours.

3) if there was a fictional character version of Big Brother, who would you like to see stuck in a house together doing stupid challenges and bitching for six or so weeks?
Well you’ve touched on a show (and a genre) that makes me a bit sad with its mediocrity.  But if forced to decide, I’d say that I’d like to see in there together: Scooter Libby, Ariana Huffington, Gore Vidal, Rush Limbaugh, Michael Moore, Anne Coulter – I’m hoping they would all claw each other to death by the end.  Or at least blind and mute each other.

4) who would kick whose ass in a no holds barred cage match? Papa? Tight? or Cottle?

Ha ha ha – great question!  I would tend to say that Tight could kick all comers – but I suspect that Cottle would fight really dirty (dirtier than Kara even), and cheat his way to a win.

5) Who do you have a weirdo crush on? like lunie's unsolved mysteries guy or my love for seth green, u get the picture. Fess up! no judgements, only love :D
My dorkiest crushes are Judd Apatow and Stephen Colbert.  (And Seth Green? Adorkable!  He’s one for the ages.)

Alright, that was fun - anybody wanna play?

OK well if you want to play and follow the questions meme...here you go!

1. Post a photo (or link to photo) of one or more of the following: your desk, your pet, your front door, your car, your favorite toy.
2. If you could be Kara Thrace for 48 hours, what would you do?
3. How did you get on LJ originally?
4. What was your first fandom and are you still in it?
5. Name two things that squick you out, and two things that have nothing to do with fandom that you are passionate about.

K, well after a long deliberation, I'm not gonna post this part on my own journal. But I'll totally answer it here for you. :)

1. I'm doing that part. As I mentioned, desk, it will be on my LJ.

2. Being Kara Thrace for 48 hourse. Hmm...is this me on Earth? Or am I on the Galactica? If it's on the Galactica then I'd be doing kinda what she does normally. But if it's here...I'd go to a bar and get trashed. Then I'd totally start a fight, because I wanna fight when I'm Kara as I'll totally kick some ass. Then I'd find some guy to take home. Frak the night away. Wake up and do it all again. ;) I suppose that's exactly what she does on Galactica.

3. I got on LJ as a way post my BSG vids. When I first started vidding I only made Farscape vids and posted them on Terra Frima. But then the BSG fandom frakked with me, so I started making them and it quickly became my number one vidding fandom, so I needed to find a place to post them. Somehow I ended up on galactica_vids and they required you to have a journal to post (der). So at first I only had it just so I could post vids. But then I quickly discovered the joys of fandoming on LJ. And that was that.

4. The X-Files. It was the BIGGEST deal for me back way when. Am I still in it? Well I'm more nostalgic about it than anything. And with the fact that the 2nd movie is actually happening now... (wtf?) it's just weird. Weird!

5. Squicky things: sleeping with the closet door/room door opened. It's not really squicky, but still terrifying. Um, one time I had really nasty bony soup at a Chinese restaurant and found some metal shard thing in there. That was real squicky and none-tasty. Passionate things: Cupcakes. Love them! Coffee, too. And ancient Greece. I'm really into the old rocks and mythology.
