Well, no one has responded to my Show Me Your Desk (and Pet) meme.  *SAD*  But [profile] spinkitty got me in on her Questions To Flist meme and I’m going for it!  Thanks spin.

Here are the rules friends – c’mon and play with me.

1. Leave me a comment saying anything random, like the music your listening to right now, something great you did or saw this week, a line from your fave song or poem or novel.  Or your favorite kind of sandwich or slogan or innocent yet suggestive quotes. Something random. Whatever you like but preferably amusing because I like to be amused.
2. I respond by asking you five personal questions so I can get to know you better.
3. You will update your LJ with the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and offer to ask someone else in the post.
5. When others comment asking to be asked, you will ask them five questions.

1) name 5 things you miss about the 80's (or wish were still around)
Well many of my favorite things seem to be enjoying an incredible renaissance at the moment… *glee*  But, hmm, let’s see:
- Mixed cassette tapes from boys who had crushes.  I guess now, if someone was crushing, they make you a CD?  An iMix?
- The first wave of cyberpunk, PRE-internet.  William Gibson, David Cronenberg, Ridley Scott, ROBOCOP, etc – those were the days!
- The band X on tour.  I remember my first time seeing them in NYC – I made a sign to hold up that said “MOVE TO NYC, WE LOVE YOU!” and the lead singer Exene took it to keep it! *80s squee*
- The early 80s cast of Saturday Night Live.  Especially Eddie Murphy.
- The pre-internet, pre-cell phone, even pre-ANSWERING MACHINE era.  Back in the day if you wanted to talk to somebody you had to go find them, grab them, and physically get in their face.  I miss that quite a bit.  Also I miss the art of penpal via snail mail.  My friends and I used to create all this really artsy-fartsy crazy stuff to mail each other, collages, photos, hand-drawn stuff.

2) what would you do if you were Samuel T Anders for 33 hours?
LOL!  Well he’s not my favorite character but I could live with that.  I’d make moves on as many nuggets as possible.  Hug Lee.  Do loops in a viper.  Then I’d probably be in the brig for the rest of my hours.

3) if there was a fictional character version of Big Brother, who would you like to see stuck in a house together doing stupid challenges and bitching for six or so weeks?
Well you’ve touched on a show (and a genre) that makes me a bit sad with its mediocrity.  But if forced to decide, I’d say that I’d like to see in there together: Scooter Libby, Ariana Huffington, Gore Vidal, Rush Limbaugh, Michael Moore, Anne Coulter – I’m hoping they would all claw each other to death by the end.  Or at least blind and mute each other.

4) who would kick whose ass in a no holds barred cage match? Papa? Tight? or Cottle?

Ha ha ha – great question!  I would tend to say that Tight could kick all comers – but I suspect that Cottle would fight really dirty (dirtier than Kara even), and cheat his way to a win.

5) Who do you have a weirdo crush on? like lunie's unsolved mysteries guy or my love for seth green, u get the picture. Fess up! no judgements, only love :D
My dorkiest crushes are Judd Apatow and Stephen Colbert.  (And Seth Green? Adorkable!  He’s one for the ages.)

Alright, that was fun - anybody wanna play?

OK well if you want to play and follow the questions meme...here you go!

1. Post a photo (or link to photo) of one or more of the following: your desk, your pet, your front door, your car, your favorite toy.
2. If you could be Kara Thrace for 48 hours, what would you do?
3. How did you get on LJ originally?
4. What was your first fandom and are you still in it?
5. Name two things that squick you out, and two things that have nothing to do with fandom that you are passionate about.

K, well after a long deliberation, I'm not gonna post this part on my own journal. But I'll totally answer it here for you. :)

1. I'm doing that part. As I mentioned, desk, it will be on my LJ.

2. Being Kara Thrace for 48 hourse. Hmm...is this me on Earth? Or am I on the Galactica? If it's on the Galactica then I'd be doing kinda what she does normally. But if it's here...I'd go to a bar and get trashed. Then I'd totally start a fight, because I wanna fight when I'm Kara as I'll totally kick some ass. Then I'd find some guy to take home. Frak the night away. Wake up and do it all again. ;) I suppose that's exactly what she does on Galactica.

3. I got on LJ as a way post my BSG vids. When I first started vidding I only made Farscape vids and posted them on Terra Frima. But then the BSG fandom frakked with me, so I started making them and it quickly became my number one vidding fandom, so I needed to find a place to post them. Somehow I ended up on galactica_vids and they required you to have a journal to post (der). So at first I only had it just so I could post vids. But then I quickly discovered the joys of fandoming on LJ. And that was that.

4. The X-Files. It was the BIGGEST deal for me back way when. Am I still in it? Well I'm more nostalgic about it than anything. And with the fact that the 2nd movie is actually happening now... (wtf?) it's just weird. Weird!

5. Squicky things: sleeping with the closet door/room door opened. It's not really squicky, but still terrifying. Um, one time I had really nasty bony soup at a Chinese restaurant and found some metal shard thing in there. That was real squicky and none-tasty. Passionate things: Cupcakes. Love them! Coffee, too. And ancient Greece. I'm really into the old rocks and mythology.

Well you commented here, but I'm not sure if you want in on the 'questions' meme or not. Up to you - if so, here are your five!

1. Tell me about the best live music event you ever went to.
2. Do you consider yourself a geek, or a nerd?
3. If you could be Lee Adama for 48 hours, what would you do?
4. What is the last book you read, and how was it?
5. Post a photo (or link to photo) of one or more of the following: your desk, your pet, your front door, your car, your favorite toy.

I'm drafting an answer to this at the moment - I wasn't intending to play, but having fallen under the rules I should definitely abide by them ;) I didn't give you a silly quote though, so...

My favourite sandwich currently is from Subways. Subways pwn me when it comes to sandwiches to have as takeout - but not sandwiches I make myself, because they're even better. Anyway, favourite sandwich currently is either the chicken teriyaki with extra onion, onion sauce and sweetcorn, or the Subways beef with no salad but lots of red onion, ranch sauce, sweetcorn and some hot chillis.

The quote I admire the most from the Crow is "Mother is the name for God on the lips and hearts of all children" but the quote I enjoy the most when I'm watching is the one performed by the superb Top Dollar, describing the fate of Eric's Crow familiar. "Here's an impression for you... Caw! Caw! BANG! Fuck, I'm dead!" The Crow is on the list of 10 films I'd take with me if I knew I was going to be marooned on a desert island with a working DVD player. Others include The Lion In Winter, Aliens and What's Eating Gilbert Grape? (Which turned out to not be aliens).

Great quotes...I like those films too - though I have a preference for Alien over Aliens. *g*

Take your sweet time with the answers - and if you prefer to just answer them here, that's fine, if you don't want to bring the whole meme over to your own LJ. I guess that slows a lot of people down, the LJ-post part of the rules. We can just keep it between you & I if you like.

I like Alien, but it's Aliens that rules me... the individual, brooding menace in Alien is really good, and the film is spectacular on a huge screen, but I saw Aliens first and loved it from the first time I saw it. I've argued the merits of the directors cut vs the theatrical cut in many a pub, and the threat presented by faceless hordes fighting a high-tech opponent as compared to a single creature stalking a low-tech group... and now I have the urge to watch both films when I get home :P Which is no good, as I won't be back tonight until half an hour before I have go to bed.

I've answered the meme, and you should be able to see my answers here, although it's very picture intensive I'm afraid. I'm a bit of a sluggard when it comes to these things, I'm afraid ;) Can I blame the new vid I'm working on?

great answers! i applaud u! i am impressed with your intellectualness...my answers would be so much more...pervy and superficial.

also please note that i HATE reality TV with a passion, (project runway and somewhat ANTM excluded) but i was trying to steal the famous people dinner party question while still seeming kind of original :D

please be assured that i fully intend to do ur desk meme as soon as i can find my battery recharger for my digital camera - seriously, would i have these problems in the 80's? i think not!

Seriously! *g*

By now your film could have been developed and printed and back from the photo place...but I'd still be waiting for it to arrive in the mail. LOL

im getting out my whip! if ur going to break the rules so am i, and i'm too lazy to post on my own page so i'm going to reply right here :> (ever the rebel).

1)for some reason i am playing three doors by VAST and within temptation by evanescence over and over the last couple of days. in between crazy bouts of rocky horror soundtrack and amy winehouse. bizarre.

2)last book i read was beat to quarters by cs forester which is a horatio hornblower book. i am now almost finished mr midshipman hornblower which is another hornblower book. i am thoroughly enjoying both of them. horny rox my world.

3) i have two pix of one of my kitties posted on my page right now. i am so so lazy. if i had posted in my own page i would have totally put another kitty pic up. my bad.

4) i love both cats and dogs but i think i would have to go with cats, just because they are easier to deal with. big dogs are a little too much for me to handle, i don't like it when they jump up and scratch. i like little fluffy girly ones that are basically like cats.

5) now that is a question. lee adama what would i do with your body for 24 hours? do i have a time setting? hmmm, well i think i would take a lot of showers and strut around galactica in a towel for the whole day. i would be sure to manhandle sam and helo either before or after comparing biceps with them.i would also lather myself with baby oil for optimum arm porn sheen.

if kara was around i would have hot and frantic post CAP seks with her and make sure dee knew about it. (if dee wasn't dispatched with i would get well and truly rid of dat biatch).

i would then sing karaoke on top of joe's bar in my towel and give all the ladies a thrill.
