In which BSG writer Michael Taylor confirms my long-held suspicions: all TV writers are shippers...TPTB also think UNFINISHED BUSINESS was da bomb...and so forth...
Because I'm anti-spoiler this year, I only read Taylor's answers to the questions I asked, and to the shipper question below...apparently watch out for mild spoilers/hints throughout the rest of the inty.
BEST PARTS!
One of my questions:
Question: Fans of "the love polygon" [of Dualla, Anders, Lee "Apollo" Adama and Kara "Starbuck" Thrace] from S3 like myself, have heard many, many things about scenes that were cut for time in "Unfinished Business" and "Taking a Break" involving these four characters. Have you heard anything about this material being included on the S3 DVDs coming in the spring?
MT: I can tell you this - Michael O’Halloran, the editor who pulled "Unfinished Business" together, campaigned for an “extended cut” of the episode to be included on the Season 3 DVDs, and I believe it will be.
A question from
karie22 :
Question: The relationship between Lee and Kara has been built up, literally, since the miniseries. Even after the culmination in "Unfinished Business" and the almost-affair and then return to their spouses, it was still hinted at that there is more between them. In Maelstrom, Kara hinted that she would still like to be with Lee, when asking how he and Dee were doing. In "The Son Also Rises," Lee reacted strongly to Romo's story about losing the love of his life and realizing that if he couldn't have her, there was no point to anything.
All of this build-up implies that Kara and Lee will have to be together in the end, or they will never be truly happy. It would be a complete and total cop-out after all of that if they just decided to shake hands and be friends and moved on like none of it ever happened. So, what I want to know is... can fans have faith that this storyline will be handled appropriately, and not just scrapped or left open in favor of a heavy Cylon and destiny/prophecy plot? I don't need the ending tied up in a nice little bow for me... but I'd like to know that I haven't been wasting my time investing in this relationship. As wonderful as the show is, the main reason I watch is for Lee/Kara first and foremost, and the Lee-Kara-Adama-Roslin family-type relationship after that.
MT: Here’s your answer - Have you ever wasted time investing in this show? Trust me, you won’t be disappointed.
He answered all, ALL, my questions!

I'm so happy!! I figured it would be skipped over because I thought I might have sounded a little brash with my "tell us if we're wasting our time" speil.
But he answered, and we're not!!! YAYYYYY!!!!

Date: 2007-11-17 12:40 am (UTC)Yeah, I wanted to get the point across, without sounding too bitchy, that L/K is the reason I watch the show and if they're gonna frak it up, then just tell me now, so I can save myself the trouble of watching season four. I was worried it still sounded too bitchy (even though I did some editing before submitting) and it'd be passed over. Thank goodness it wasn't!

Date: 2007-11-17 02:39 am (UTC)We all know it will still be as angsty as hell in season 4, but now hopefully we won't get crushed under the angst and can ride it out with some hope :)
