Firstly - I feel a little bad about the spamming today.  These bits and pieces keep popping up and they all deserve their own post, from where I sit.  You're all quite patient.

Second - I just realized most of my major TV fandoms just collided on last night's JOHN FROM CINCINNATI:
- Joss Whedon's brother, Zack, wrote this episode.
- They ended the final sequence of the season finale with...a Bob Dylan song.

I have some more to say about this show and my other summer viewing.  To be continued...

Yeah, I noticed the Whedon name on the script. I enjoyed the Dylan sequence (and if I find that part on YouTube, Sitrep-ing it.) and was glad to see Zippy got home, but I still perplexed as to the meaning of the show, beyond the Yost family being healed in some fashion. I'll have to watch the finale again.

I'd have to say my favorite show this summer has been AMC's Mad Men. It's a great show, great writing, acting, and even has a cool Saul Bass inspired opening credits sequence. It's such a great show.

I had not heard of this show, but I'm currently enjoying Season One of Deadwood -- the dialogue in particular. I'll have to seek out this Milch show too, especially if it has (even tenuous) links to Joss and BSG.

Well it's a pretty darned, erm, TENUOUS connection to the Joss & BSGverses, but...there you go.

Be forewarned: the only things that JfC and DEADWOOD have in common are dialogue style (complex/poetic/unlike anything else on TV), and several supporting castmembers.

That's fine. Deadwood's setting is hardly my reason for watching. As a non-American person, the history of North Dakota doesn't engage me very much. I had to Wiki Wild Bill Hickock to see what all the fuss was about.
