Commander Starbuck - coulda shoulda woulda...
OK I love this show and its writers...but this is starting to piss me off:
Bamber explained that when it comes to upcoming plot twists or new storylines, the cast usually hears about them, "Around six or seven episodes before [we shoot them]. But so much of the time what we hear changes eventually." When I asked him for an example of such a change, he revealed, "Starbuck was the one who was going to take over the Pegasus originally. I pushed for it to be Apollo. I thought it would be a interesting dynamic to play, having the father and son separated and in charge of these two different ships."
WTF?
I need to step away. I need to stop. Thinking. About how they cut Commander Starbuck off at the knees. And trapped her in Long Haired Domestic Life Hell Prison on New Caprica. GGGrrrrrrrrr.
*calming meditative pose*

But I imagine her personal relationships would have been downplayed in favor of the politics/duties of high command (as Lee's were). New Caprica really sucked for Kara but it took her character a lot of fascinating emotional and psychological places.
But then again, I am a sick little fangirl who likes angst entirely too much
Bamber is pretty cute (and smart, damn him) when he babbles though. I get a big kick out of the idea of him as a script-writer.
Oh, Jamie!
I'm less cranky about this today...I am along for the ride, after all.
Love Bamber for being so darned good in the role - and for helping to write this. *squee*
Re: Oh, Jamie!
LOL, exactly! Sometimes I get soooo frustrated with the directions the writers/creators take, but it comes/goes in waves--and I never stop enjoying the show completely so I get over it :)
Thanks for the pointer to that skiffypedia article--I hadn't read it before and I love that JB contributes to fandom in smartypants ways! *sighs* Hot and brainy/analytical is just a lethal combination for any fangirl...
