Just finished the final ep of LA FEMME NIKITA S2 and...

I am so, so HAPPY to finally find out who this frakkin' guy is:

And, love the idea that Section is doing nasty things like supporting the Saddam Hussein regime! Oooooohhh, they are BAAADDDIES.  Very telling and prescient, what Operations says about why they NEED to keep dictators like Hussein in power in the region. *chills run up my spine*

My gods, ALIAS is beyond a ripoff of this show, isn't it?

Yes, ALIAS has a lot going for it. The actors who play Sydney's parents for one thing. But my love of S1-S2 of ALIAS is dying a little every time I watch more LFN.

I'm on to disc 4 of s2 LFN very soon and I am loving it! I loved Alias too but it's crazy to think of how unoriginal it is. JJ Abrams has some 'splaining to do...

I am not sure I would have even kept WATCHING Alias, if I'd seen this show first.

I came late to Alias - someone recommended it as a replacement for my BUFFY fix after S7 ended. It worked for that, definitely. ALIAS obviously had a much larger budget for stunts, and there were a lot more kick-ass girl fights and etc.

LFN is interesting because it lies somewhere on the continuum between ALIAS and 24 in its coldness and brutality.

I think I would have been peeved to discover Alias if I'd been a LFN fan already. I also came late to Alias and I was hooked from the beginning. So far Alias trumps LFN in the development of characters--but Nikita/Michael is electirc. I think LFN is captivating because of its brutality. Sydney always had a safety net and she knew that even though Sloane was a murderer, he always fancied himself as a benevolent father figure, so he would probably only kill her with some trepidation. From the beginning it's clear that Nikita has no one backing her up.

BTW I mean ALIAS had a larger budget than LFN did, not than BUFFY.

BUFFY had a ridiculous amount of fights! W00t!

Don't you think it's too bad that Gina Torres didn't get to do some kickass fighting on LFN! I loved her as Ana Espinosa on Alias :D

OMG - Gina Torres! I just realized YET ANOTHER way Alias is similar to LFN. Gina Torres guest stars as a kickass badgrrl.

And yeah, a day without Gina kicking butt is a sad day. :-(

I watched LFN a long long time ago. And I think they do have some similarities but they are very different too. While I never really got into LFM I was a huge fan of Alias. probably that's why the end of Alias was in a way a bit disappointing for me.

Yes there are definitely differences, but I am tripping on all the similarities. ALIAS seemed so fresh to me conceptually, and I respect(ed) JJ Abrams a lot...but LFN is chipping away at all that.

And ironically enough, LFN is based on someone else's work too!

But all these shows are great. Maybe you should take another look at LFN now?

I'm not very familiar with Alias, but the S2 finale of LFN rocked :)

Aha, well if you enjoy LFN, and/or 24, and/or BUFFY, you should definitely check out ALIAS. But it kindof started to suck IMHO after S3...

Well you know my feelings about LFM and Alias. I got my first disk of LFN Season 1 and rewatched it last night after a couple years. Two observations:

1. Nikita's hair is always so funky. I love it. She can wear it in any way.

2. Michael, oh Michael, I had forgotten how sexy the man's walk is! Dammit! The man can strut. He's pure strolling sex. :: drool ::

All very true! I loved S1/S2 Michael "Battle Hair," as VirgoSunLeoMoon calls it...*G*

I definitely love the way they styled Nikita throughout the show. Of course with a face/bod/hair like Peta's it ain't that hard, huh?

Meanwhile, I'm starting S3 now - EVERYONE GOT HAIR CUTS! WTF! LOL with Operations dye job! Whoo hoo.

Did you make that foxy Michael icon? I'm hunting for more LFN icons...can I snerch this one off ya?

No, I didn't make them. I don't know how unfortunately. I only know how to snerch. Yes, you're welcome to snerch anything of mine. Actually if I remember correctly it was from the same person who did the ones that you used for your skiffy siggy. I wanted to do a LFN/Farscape/BSG siggy but haven't figured out how to do that yet either. ;)
