This makes me so angry, and so disgusted, and also makes we both want to become a vegetarian, eat local only, and start the 100 mile diet, FOR REAL.  Arrrggh.

Meanwhile, my old neighborhood in LA is in flames...Jesus.  Any of you out there reading this from LA?  I know it's biz as usual for Angelenos, but...WHOA.

(that 2nd pic was shot 3 blocks from my former apartment in Los Feliz, Los Angeles)

Trying to stay positive by diving back into Entertainmentsville: in the BSG Hiatus from Hell Relief Department, SciFi.com has posted a new video of Aaron Douglas at a finale screening in Seattle - and are promising to post three new podcasts of Mark Shepard discussing the LAST THREE EPS of the season! YAY.  Hurry up!

Wow. Those pictures are at once really frightening and visually stunning.

Although the whole situation makes me ill - I got those from LATimes.com, where they have set up a place for all their readers to post photos of the fire. People are sending photos in from all over the city...it's kindof amazing.

Oh, damn. Shudder-inducing pics. I grew up in So Cal, not LA, so I check the LA Times website all the time, but I hadn't seen these yet. Ouch.

Also ick on that gluten article. Word to eating local.

(And hello, new friend!)

I'm a lurker over at Skiffy and linked here...anyway I live in Glendale CA and you've probably already heard that they finally got the fires under control either last night or just this morning (I don't remember because another fire erupted in Catalina (I think - I'm new to the LA area still) and they are now reporting on that - Oh and the survival of the first non human assisted eagles born/hatched in like 15 years were in the Catalina area - but thankfully safe) Sorry for the ramble but I've dug your comments and stuff for a while and this I actually could comment on! Thanks for keeping the BSG love going!

Well thanks for the update, yeah I heard that there were no people or homes hurt in my former 'hood...but I'm still sad at the thought of all that hillside black and smoldering. All the part of the park I used to hike in every weekend, black and charred.

But it is the cycle of things in the desert, afterall. You often forget that living in lush (well-watered) LA...

Thanks for the kind words and you should sign in and speak up sometime on skiffy and/or LJ!!! Long live BSG.

Yeah, I keep thinking that but...I'm not sure I have much to add to the convo at Skiffy - by the time I get caught up someone's already said it! Sadly, regarding the fire in the park...it was arson. Some dude 'claims' he fell asleep while smoking...sure you bet. So that part is just maddning! If it was the cycle of life I could deal but I am SO tired of humans destroying our planet and parks...sorry I'll get off my soapbox now :-)

ARSON? Frak me. Well as anyone who lives in SoCal knows, the land will recover. It always does. But I am very glad I do not have to look at it every day.

Meanwhile, you SHOULD join in on the boards...if you can't "catch up" just start a new convo! Half the people on the thread are always doing that. And obviously (cuz we're all losers *g*), be there in the evenings US EST time...that's when the board seems to be rolling.
