The cast and crew of the upcoming "The X-Files: I Want to Believe" were just a few weeks into filming in Vancouver when Frank Spotnitz, the co-writer and co-producer with creator-director Chris Carter, called star David Duchovny over to a laptop computer to watch a fan-made video on YouTube. It was a montage of scenes from the old "X-Files" show set to Sarah McLachlan's forlorn "When She Loved Me."

"It was intensely romantic and it almost brought tears to my eyes," Duchovny recalled. "It really did. And it reminded me that we have at the core of 'The X-Files' this very powerful relationship. We have to honor that and not shy away from the sentimentality of the fans or of the relationship itself. When we were doing the show, Gillian [Anderson] and I had got tired of it. And we wanted to be ourselves outside of it. I remember struggling. But now I think, 'God, what a great love affair.' "

So...they all sat around on set, getting teary-eyed over shipper fanvids?  Oh, it's just too, too much.  :)

Also, DD is 47?  Dang he looks fiiiiiiine.

You know what is hilarious about my X Files posts...I'm not even in this fandom! (Although I am a fan of both actors)...

It's just that they all say the darndest things. And man, those photos from back in the day! *drool*

I'm now seriously looking forward to this new film...

How cool is it that they actually watch fanvids? It's nice to hear something positive rather than "and then they agreed that under the laws on copyright and piracy, the fanvids all had to be deleted immediately from existence."

I hope they left feedback for the vidder...

Oh, and as my source for all things DD... when do we see more Californication? *hopeful*

YAY for Californication!

Well I haven't heard much other than it's coming back. I assume b/c of the strike it will be later than last year? Then again WEEDS is starting next month. But I figure late summer at the soonest.

Can't wait, I really enjoyed that show.

This makes me so happy -- thank you. Of course, it comes about 10 years too late, but still greatly appreciated. That relationship was what made me so obsessed with the show -- it was my first fandom show even though I was afraid to troll the Internet because I thought it would mean I was really obsessed. Wow, how times change! But it was an amazing 'ship and I'm so glad that DD is giving it the credit it deserves. There seems to be a tendency, especially in sci-fi/fantasy, to dismiss the relationship aspects of the story. Mulder/Scully kept me around through a lot of ridiculous writing and disappointment. DD's new attitude has just amped up my movie excitement about 200%!
