I think things just got more complicated.

I just finished watching the extended cut of Battlestar Galactica's UNFINISHED BUSINESS on the season 3 DVD.   *eyes glaze over with joy*

Firstly, gods I LOVE THIS SHOW.  So much.

And second, what a marvelous valentine this piece is to fans, to Apollo/Starbuck shippers...what a powerful testament to the potent art of editing.  I actually think the shorter broadcast version packs a bigger punch in terms of editing.  Yet this longer cut gave me just about EVERYTHING, and more, that I'd heard was shot and taken out of the final cut.  It was intense, sad, romantic, sexy, brutal, funny.  Just fantastic...especially the ending.

I still haven't watched it yet. But, I'm glad to hear that it sounds like it turned out well.

Well, I didn't want to get into this now, but I will add that if you're not a huge fan of Kara, Lee, Kara & Lee, Dee, Dee & Lee, or Adama & Roslin...you may not enjoy this quite as much as I did. *g*

I prefer the tighter editing of the original. This definitely gave some insights to what happened, but it was much blunter, for lack of a better word.

I cringed a lot at Kara's behavior, even though I love her like peanut butter.

There were some parts I'd give my first born to have in the original.. like the quite I love yous... but hey, now we have quality s3 footage for vids... LOL

LOL I just came back to add that exact sentiment to my post above...I liked the interwoven-style edit better as a piece of storytelling, as the best version of the ep.

However, all this new footage was so excellent, and I'd wanted to see it all very very much. So I just love TPTB for doing the work to present this to us as a cut piece, blunt though it may be, rather than just including a pile of deleted scenes. It makes it very clear why all the stuff got cut. Priceless for a trufan like you or I.

Yup. :)

(I just want to schmoosh pilots together at the end and make it all better!)

Tauntress! :( I still haven't been able to get my hands on the dvds.

I may be the only person yet to prefer UBEX over the aired version. I love the original but UBEX is *real*, bare bones, warts and all, and that's the way I like it. It's a gritty show. I like the raw storytelling, the pure *fury* between the two of them was engrossing. They did a wonderful job baiting each other.

Totally agree! See above I rewrote my post a little bit cuz I felt via you commenters that my true opinion wasn't clear enough.

I'll have to watch it like 10 more times LOL

:D It was awesome, yes? And yeah, editing FTW--the short version was better.

Enjoy the DVDs! I look forward to exploring them when I get them in a few weeks' time.

I just finished watching it and my head is still exploding.

But agree with everyone else that the aired version was put together better.

Although they really should have included the "i need you" stuff. But. Anyway.

*goes back to head exploding*

*still trying to piece my exploded head together the morning after*

Yes...that's why I think of it as such a valentine to us shipper fans. With this recut RDM is both giving us what we wanted to see so badly (see above rewrite of my post to make this clearer), and also showing very clearly WHY all the extra stuff was trimmed away. So brilliant.

No I'm just getting started with the set, next up is checking out ALL the deleted scenes throughout the rest of the season. I'm curious to see if anything else we were all dying to get is in there. I was sorry that the two shots in THE PASSAGE didn't seem to make it (K/L tossing ball on hangar deck...longer version of end scene), but HEY, WE CAN'T BE HOGS NOW. *g*
