This is a very Battlestar-centric post, so...

I'll put it under a cut.

The BSG multi-shippers have started a new skiffy thread here, and I hope many of you might come over and chat with us now, or at least when the show starts airing.  It was started as a way to END THE DRAMA GIRLS.  Bitches please!  Should be a great place for everyone to be with friendlies (since WE'RE ALL FRIENDLIES, RIGHT) who ship anybody with anybody.  Just a nice, polite yet p0rny place for everyone who like the show and all its sexy/dramatic/angsty/thoughtful/mysterious goodness to come in and chat.

Hope to see y'all over there!  I will be encouraging a spoilers-under-whiteout policy whenever I'm in there, fer sure.  Hopefully everyone will respect it.

I think, as April 4th gets ever closer, that we would all like that.

And we all do share the love - of BSG - each in our way. And that should be OK. I believe that what we have in common is greater then what divides us.

One of the things that I like about the show is that there is all that gray area- nothing is black or white, all good or all bad.

I dont see why there has to be "right" and "wrong" on the forum. Everyone should be able to enjoy what they get out of the show in their own way. Of course when doing anything in the public realm there is always going to be peeps that are contrary! Personally I just ingore those folks and mostly stay in my thread.

Well, it is a public place. And people have the right to read what they want to. But when one side of a controversy becomes so much a part of the other side's conversation, "spy macros" etc. - it becomes a little hard to disengage from that, especially when some of the language gets into the personal.

Yes, I'm all for letting well enough alone. But there does need to be a serious de-escalation of rhetoric to make that possible. This long since stopped being about characters or character bashing.

If you want to try and find some common ground, I'm listening.

I honestly can not say that I can view this completely objectively and I am not the one to represent the L/K shipper thread. I can only speak for myself and say that I find it all a bit disheartening- on both sides of the issue.

Ah, well. At least we can agree that it's disheartening. And neither of us can be completely objective, I admit to that as well. But it was a nice idea.

I do hope that the *public* rhetoric can be calmed down on both sides, and made less personal, and that *private* places - such as F-locked LJ posts (and where ever you guys go for your private chatter,) can be respected. I don't really speak for my side either, but that would be the place to start.

I think it doesnt even come down to common ground, it comes down to respecting one another. There seems to be a lack of respect for other people and what they think and feel. Is it respectful to go and read something and then go out of your way to make fun of it or use a persons comments to stir up hate? When people learn that everyone is different and entitled to their own view then the world shall be a much more peaceful place. Until such time war and dissention shall rain supreme, reeking havoc upon the innocent.

I hope more people pop in and out of the multi thread, including the K/L fans. It's about having a shiny new sandbox, not knocking any of the other sandboxes or telling people they can't play in both. We're all on the same playground. THIS METAPHOR WAS AWESOME IN MY HEAD.

Seriously. I really hope there will be a return to talking about the show, and not about other fans. I know most people aren't like that but they do make the most noise...so they get the most attention.

I say this because it's not just a K/L-people thing. The K/L people I know have zero interest in getting into that kind of stuff. But you know.
