I am happy to say that I am now just 2 days away from my week-long Maine vacation.  Me and the family are heading up to Islesford, a tiny island off of Mt. Desert Island.  Can. Not. Wait.

But I'll miss you kids, natch.

Before leaving, I'm aiming to drop a few more posts, so the time has come for me to do my Fall TV Grid.

WHOA.  Thank the gods for the double-channel-recording DVR, huh. *g*

Some notes on my shows:
  • Lots of friends have been watching the CHUCK pilot this month, via NBC's various early release promotions, and seem to be digging it.
  • No one has said anything about JOURNEYMAN yet, which stars ROME's Kevin (Lucius Vorenus) McKidd. Has anyone watched it? (This show is also available now, like CHUCK.)
  • I don't care what anyone says about BIONIC WOMAN - I am watching for at least 4 eps.  Let's give it time for the Jason "FNL" Katims effect to sink in.
  • REAPER - Kevin Smith.  Ray Wise.  Nuff said.
  • DIRTY SEXY MONEY - It has an incredible cast, but I am slightly concerned that by 1-2 months in I'm going to have the same reaction I had to STUDIO 60 (ie, WHO GIVES A FUCK ABOUT THESE SPOILED IDIOTS?!?).  We'll see.  Meanwhile, in honor of Peter "SIX FEET UNDER" Krause's return to TV, I give you this.  Siiiiggggghhh.
  • PUSHING DAISIES - this is one of those shows that will sink or swim by the ratings results of its 3rd episode.  Nevertheless I am psyched to see it...the bloggers and TV press sure seem to love it.  I loved DEAD LIKE ME and WONDERFALLS, both charming, quirky and funny shows.  Also, Barry Sonnenfeld knows his shit.  Hoping this is a keeper.
  • I am already watching and sort of liking TORCHWOOD and TELL ME YOU LOVE ME.  We'll see how long that lasts when things get crowded in a few weeks.
  • DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES - I lost interest last year, but Nathan Fillion playing a gynecologist married to Dana Delaney??  I think I can force myself back on.  Here's a quick Fillion fix in the meantime.  *squee*
  • MOONLIGHT - No idea, really, it's such a crap shoot.  But it is about time TV left Buffy-mode and gave the Anne-Rice-mode a try.  I'll give it a few weeks.  When NEW AMSTERDAM starts in midseason, who knows how I'll feel.
  • CASHMERE MAFIA - The late starter of the bunch, with Lucy Liu and Frances O'Connor, produced by Darren "SEX AND THE CITY" Star.  Here's a clip.
  • The rest of the shows on here, I have no comments about, it's really a love/hate thing.  To each her own, eh!
For any of you still trying to gather your thoughts - and program your DVR - may I highly recommend this exhaustive links list, and in particular this excellent Grid-To-Rule-Them-All

Maureen Ryan has a zillion clips posted for her fave new shows.

E!Online’s Kristin wants to help you find the new shows you’ll like by gauging your “TV Fan Type.”

Question: I gave up on LOST last fall, but I’m thinking of diving back in.  When is it starting again? Anyone?

Sci-Fi Channel’s TIN MAN miniseries looks pretty cool.  I’ll be there just for Zoey Deschanel and Alan Cumming. (It's coming in December apparently.)

Regarding summer TV, I was pretty darned satisfied.  I loved BIG LOVE way more in S2.  SAVING GRACE was a revelation (and renewed).  Right now I'm digging CALIFORNICATION (yes it got renewed), in all its naughty, snarky and sweet glory.  The recent Suicide Girl Secretary episode was especially kinky and fun.  MAD MEN has blown my mind – should I be worried that there’s no news yet regarding its renewal?  * worried *  Btw, have you checked out the MAD MEN blog…and also this great (and surprisingly, um, critical) interview with Vincent Kartheiser.  I seemed to be in a minority who liked STATE OF MIND, which had its season finale this past week.  Guess that’s probably the last one, huh.

PS - Must give a shoutout to the latest iconartist I've found during my LJ travels: [profile] ch_photoshopped .  Go check out her amazing animated GIFs, they are splendiforous...my walk on the beach icon is hers.  Cannot leave town without linking to this great new Katee Sackhoff scan - this one is from the latest SciFi Channel Magazine, apparently from RAZOR.  Thanks to dramaticgrl for scanning and [profile] canadiangirl_86  for sharing!  Oh Starbuck.  Sigh.  <3 <3 <3
