Thank the gods.

Now if only we could get Dick and the rest of his Nixonian Clowns to step down too, maybe the country could begin to get on the right track.  I was reminded yet again of just how Nixonian these guys really are last night, when I caught most of ALL THE PRESIDENT'S MEN on cable.  The guys working on the Nixon campaign were playing the exact sorts of "college pranks" on the Democrats back then too.

Just great.  What a bunch of fucking losers.

Do we really have to wait till January 2008 for these clowns to scram?

Le sigh.

Oh, I'm sure Rove is just taking a rest before he goes to work helping the next GOP nominee steal the next election. American won't be healed until that man is in jail.

Btw, I was watching All The President's Men this weekend as well, Sunday afternoon, on one of the Cinemaxes I think. I was just flipping by, and it had just started, and I kept it on even though I've seen it dozens of times. But, it was the first time I've seen it knowing that Hal Holbrooke was playing Mark Felt, and that adds another dimension to the viewing. Even in the movie there are enough clues to suggest that Deep Throat worked at the FBI.

Reading about Rove's use of an opponents stationary for a "prank" reminds me of the "dirty tricks" used in the Nixon regime. After all, Rove got his start working for Nixon right out of the College Republicans.

Rove, Rumsfeld and Cheney - Nixonian Crooks & Liars all.

ATPM has not dated in the least, its intesity and paranoia feels incredibly modern even now - and watching it again this week, I was struck by how much ZODIAC is inspired by it in look and tone. Even down to the acting and editing.
