OK, I'm sticking to my anti-spoiler guns on this, but having a hard time NOT READING Harry Knowles' review of CLOVERFIELD (via Cinematical).  The review is probably immensely spoilery, so read at your own risk.  But he definitely loved it, as have two others "in the biz" that I've spoken to this past week.

ETA: one other cyberspace reviewer was allowed to see and post, Jeffrey Wells.  Again I only read up to the end of this paragraph and stopped. BUT WHAT A PARAGRAPH:
If Allen Ginsberg didn't already own the title I would suggest that they call it Howl. This is not your father's Ray Harryhausen rampaging- monster flick. Those movies, comparatively, were parlor dramas for the tame of heart. This movie is REM madness. It is Guillermo del Toro on a tab of brown acid with a little crack thrown in.

Can. Not. Wait. To. See.  *glee*

Meanwhile, also via AICN comes news of the possibility of Johnny Depp and Christian Bale co-starring in Michael Mann's new film?  *flail*  That's the best casting rumor I've heard since Cinematical mentioned Viggo Mortensen and Philip Seymour Hoffman might be co-starring in something.  Super yays.

Capish.

Oh, FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS.

This show is so good, it's actually making it harder to watch many other shows.

I used to get a certain special something from watching romantic comedies, dramedies, and assorted Austen adaptations.  For some reason, this show about parents, children, teammates, siblings, friends, lovers, and townsfolk, is actually filling that need in me better and faster.  And deeper.  Mebbe I should move to Texas? *g*

The episode I watched tonight is S2x211, "Jumping The Gun."   For those of you on my flist who are considering picking this show up, S1 is on DVD, and all of both season can be seen here online.
